Malha in far north of Darfur sees price increases

Residents of Malha district in North Darfur are suffering from a continuing increase in prices of food material during the past few months.

Residents of Malha district in North Darfur are suffering from a continuing increase in prices of food material during the past few months.One pound of sugar costs two and a half pounds and a bottle of oil has reached seven pounds. The residents of Malha told Radio Dabanga that a pound of dry banyan has reached six pounds and tomato paste is worth five pounds while a quarter of a kilo of millet is now for sixteen pounds and a kilo of Australian flour is four pounds.

Malha, located 189 km northeast of El Fasher, was the destination of at least 60 Darfuri migrants fleeing from Libya.
