Losses for 96 households in East Darfur fire

A massive fire broke out on Thursday in El Majlis district, East Darfur, causing heavy losses. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, member of the East Darfur State parliament, Hussein Abdel Jabbar, said that the fire that broke out in the district of El Majlis district in Sheiria locality, caused heavy losses to 96 families. “SDG15,000 ($2,620) in cash burned to ashes, 151 room huts, 47 large sacks of sorghum, and 30 horse carts, and 20 goats died. The inventory committee has estimated the total losses at about SDG215,000 ($37,530). Abdel Jabbar has appealed to the Humanitarian Aid Commission, national organisations, and the Zakat Chamber (alms taxes) to urgently aid the effected families.
