Five militiamen die in Darfur landmine blast

Five members of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were killed, when the vehicle they were in hit a landmine near Mashrou Abu Zeid, East Jebel Marra, on Wednesday. In response, fellow RSF troops beat up three firewood collectors in the area.

“A vehicle of an RSF convoy exploded on the road at a distance of 5km east of Mashrou Abu Zeid on Wednesday afternoon. The five militiamen in the vehicle were killed instantly,” a listener told Radio Dabanga.

“Militiamen from the other cars then attacked three cart owners, who were collecting firewood and straw in the vicinity, and beat them severely,” he reported.
