Killing, beating in South Darfur’s Gireida

A resident of Jiji camp for the displaced in South Darfur’s Gireida was killed on Saturday. A group of gunmen whipped a policeman and three visitors to the Gireida market.
“Six militiamen on camels intercepted Hasabo Jarelnabi as he was riding his donkey cart near the camp collect firewood,” a camp elder told Radio Dabanga.
“They tried to steal his donkey cart. When he resisted, they shot him dead.”
A vendor at the market of Gireida reported that a group of gunmen attempted to rob visitors to the market of their phones and money.
“After some people lodged a complaint at the market police post, the gunmen whipped them as well as the policeman.
“The gunmen then left, randomly firing into the air. A woman sustained a bullet wound,” he added.
