Kassab leaders appeal for local authorities release

Youth leaders from Kassab camp in North Darfur, appealed to the local military ruler of Kutum and El-Waha localities to intervene and release an omda and a policeman kidnapped in the beginning of August. Speaking to Radio Dabanga on Tuesday, 2 October, the youth leaders said omda Abdul Aziz Adam Ali Omda Rifi and the policeman Adam Sembel were abducted when a pro-government militia (Noor Ahmed) stormed the camp. The youth leaders called upon the perpetrators, through Radio Dabanga, to either release the hostages or disclose information about their fate. They pointed out that both UNAMID and government authorities were informed about the kidnapping but have not yet done anything to release the hostages. According to witnesses, the Noor Ahmed militia is stationed around the el-Gobba area.
