Joint effort by Habaniya and Fallata to recover cattle

An armed group looted 120 head of cattle in the Kirkada area in Tulus Locality in South Darfur on Saturday. The omda of the Fellata tribe, Mohamed Adam, told Radio Dabanga that a group pursued the gunmen. The pursuers stopped when the raiders entered the territory of Habbaniya.

The Fellata tribal leader explained also that a joint force of Habbaniya and Fallata tribesman was able to recover 12 head of cattle yesterday out of some 50 head looted last Friday from the Golo area of Buram Locality.

On the other hand, Maj. Gen. Mohamed al-Hassan Al Imam, the commisionor of Buram, has vowed to the eliminate those whom he termed “mutafaliteen” – meaning lawbreakers or those who do not abide by community traditions. He announced the opening of the main road between Buram and Tulus, which was closed for more than four years.

The joint effort by the tribes follows a reconciliation deal last week.
