‘JEM clash with Sudanese government troops’ in South Kordofan
Forces of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) reportedly clashed with Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) contingents on Tuesday, 53 kilometres from the town of Dilling In South Kordofan.
JEM Vice President and secretary for the movement in Kordofan, Mohamed Al Beel Issa Zayyed, told Radio Dabanga from the field that the JEM forces were ambushed by the SAF in the area between Dilling and Bischol Mountain.
Zayyed said that while human casualties are still being assessed, his forces captured 15 Land Cruisers as well as a truck mounted with an Ural 23mm cannon.
He stressed that the forces of the Sudan Revolutionary Front to which the JEM is aligned, “are still stationed in the same area, and advancing on the town of Kadugli (capital of South Kordofan)”.
He said that his forces are “behind the people” and appealed to civilians to keep clear of military targets in the area.
