‘Investigate West Darfur prison violence’: rights organisation

A human rights organisation has demanded the Sudanese authorities to conduct an investigation into the death of a prisoner during the recent fight in Ardamata prison in El Geneina locality, West Darfur. The Sudan Centre for Peace and Justice also demanded an investigation of the injuring of four others, amongst them inmates and a prison guard, after the guards opened fire to control striking inmates inside Ardamata prison on 19 February. This resulted in the death of 29-year-old Seif El Din Omar from Murnei. The organisation said there were four wounded: 32-year-old Mohamed Abdulah Suleiman from Foro Baranga, 28-year-old Jibril Ahmed Abdul Karim from ​​El Geneina, 27-year-old Abdulah Haroon Abdu from ​Habila, and 40-year-old Hamid Khalil Karkab.
