A 14-month-old infant was injured when unidentified persons opened fire in Zalingei’s Hamidiya camp on Monday.

A Zalingei camp coordinator, who does not wish to be named, accused government forces of being behind the indiscriminate firing. He told Radio Dabanga, “The random shootings and intimidation of displaced persons in the camps is coordinated by the government to expel the displaced persons.”

He added that he had informed the United Nationals African Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) of the incident.

Earlier this week, Radio Dabanga had reported about the Hamidiya camps being abandoned because of lack of humanitarian organisations in the area.
