IDPs in West Darfur reject Governor’s announcement

Displaced persons from camps in West Darfur refused the arrangements announced by the Governor, Haider Galukoma, on reviewing the IDP camps’ planning for converting them into residential areas. An IDP representative told Radio Dabanga that the Governor’s plan is a conspiracy and an element of the National Congress Party’s strategy. The plan is to be implemented by the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM), led by Tijani Sese, on behalf of the Khartoum regime. The IDP representative added that the displaced reject the review of the camp’s planning completely. He added that Sese’s plan comes as part of Khartoum’s politics, which is aiming to abolish the camps since a long time. The IDPs appealed to the UN and other humanitarian organizations to intervene and stop the government of Sudan (GOS) of implementing the plan. Haider Galukoma said that GOS started making arrangements for the review of the camps’ planning in preparation for converting them into residential areas.
