Herders shoot dead two farmers in South Darfur

Pro-government herders entered their livestock on the farms by force of arms, a relative of the victims reported.

Herders shot dead two farmers, and wounded another person, in El Salam locality in South Darfur on Wednesday.

A relative of one of the deceased told Radio Dabanga that “pro-government armed herders” entered their camels onto the farmlands of Suleiman Mohamed and Zahra Mohamed. The farmers tried to chase the animals out of the farms, but the herders opened fire on them, killing the them on the spot.

Another person was seriously injured. He has been taken to the hospital in Nyala for treatment, the source reported. He called upon the authorities to protect the farmers, put an end to the violence in the area, and bring those involved in the incident to justice.
