Herders, army clash in Sirba, West Darfur

A herder was killed in a clash between army soldiers and militant herders in Sirba locality on Tuesday.
“On Tuesday afternoon, armed herders entered the area of Armenkol, and beat the farmers,” the coordinator of the Sirba camps for the displaced told Radio Dabanga. “After the farmers fled, they released their camels and cattle onto the farms.
“The affected farmers reported the attack to the commander of the nearby military garrison, who immediately sent troops to the farms. As soon as they arrived, the herders started shooting. In the ensuing fire fight, one herder was killed,” he said.
The soldiers managed to drive the livestock from the farms, into the garrison.
