Gunmen steal organisation’s vehicle in Central Darfur capital

Militia members hijack a vehicle of a women’s union from the guard in Zalingei. Police in West Darfur retrieve a hijacked truck from gunmen.

Militia members have hijacked a vehicle belonging to a civil society group from within Zalingei, the capital of Central Darfur.

A member of the State Women's Union, Nafisa Saleh, told Radio Dabanga that militants forced a guard at the headquarters of the union in Zalingei to hand over the keys to a Land Cruiser on Tuesday night. The guard was held at gunpoint. The perpetrators then seized the vehicle and escaped to an unknown destination.

Another vehicle was hijacked by gunmen near El Geneina in West Darfur. This concerned a truck coming from Omdurman. The gunmen fled into a northern direction. However, a government force chased the culprits, managed to catch up, and forced them to leave the truck.
