Gunmen attack on Buram police station kills 1, injures 4

A member of the Popular Defense Forces was killed and four others were injured in the city of Buram, South Darfur on Friday evening in an attack on the town’s police station.Speaking to Radio Dabanga, a witness stated that four gunmen attacked the police station in Buram on Friday evening. He added that the police used a Dushka machine gun to repel the attack, which caused panic and fear among citizens. During their escape, the gunmen opened fire on a guard at the city gate located between Buram and Ed Daein, the witness stated. The attack resulted in the death of a member of the Popular Defense Forces and wounded two members of the armed forces, sources reported. One of the injured victims, Ibrahim Yaba, was taken to a hospital for treatment. Moreover, the gunmen reportedly seized a Kalashnikov rifle and other weapons.As the gunmen were escaping the city, they looted a commercial vehicle in which a passenger was wounded, at about two kilometers from Buram. In another incident, the militants looted a number of nine cattle heads and injured the livestock owner after which they reportedly fled to the village of Fayyad Marfaina.File photo
