Guard slain, South Darfur’s Mershing market terrorised

Heavily armed militiamen terrorised the market of Mershing, South Darfur, on Sunday.Speaking to Radio Dabanga a market trader reported that on Sunday morning “pro-government militiamen” in vehicles, and on motorcycles, camels, and horses, arrived at El Malam, the northern gate of Mershing.They opened fire on a guard of the Central Defence Forces (Abu Tira). He died instantly. The gunmen took his machine gun, and proceeded to the market. There they moved around with their heavy weapons, terrifying the people. The market was partially closed. File photo
