The joint committee on humanitarian aid of the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF) rebel alliance and the Sudanese government made a working visit to South and Central Darfur. A visit to North, West and East Darfur will follow next week.

Mahjoub El Jazouli, head of the SRF leadership committee, said that the committee's tasks are facilitating the delivery of relief goods, opening roads and tracks, and working with government agencies, international and local humanitarian aid organisations, and the United Nations-African Union hybrid peace mission UNAMID.

The joint committee will also deal with removing unexploded ordnance (UXO), unexploded bombs (UXBs), and explosive remnants of war (ERW).

The committee will try to form sub-committees in all the states of Darfur.

The committee not only concerns itself with the war-affected areas in Darfur, but also with the Two Regions (Blue Nile and Nuba Mountains).
