Govt. force protects travelling students in South Darfur’s Kass

A force of soldiers, paramilitaries, and policemen are being employed in Kass in South Darfur to protect students who are returning to Kass after visiting their relatives in the area for the Feast of the Sacrifice.
“On Thursday, four students were killed and two others injured in an ambush by militiamen south of Kass,” a listener told Radio Dabanga. “The attackers then blocked all the roads south of the town.”

“On Thursday, four students were killed and two others injured in an ambush by militiamen south of Kass,” a listener told Radio Dabanga. “The attackers then blocked all the roads south of the town.”

“The authorities responded immediately, and on Sunday they sent a force made up of army soldiers, Abu Tira [Central Reserve Police] troops, and policemen in three vehicles and two lorries to transport students who spent the Eid El Adha holiday with their families in villages south of Kass.”

He said that Sabil Ahmed Sabil, Deputy Governor of South Darfur, announced this (Sunday) afternoon that the offenders hiding in the mountains are besieged, expected to be seized “in the coming hours”.
