Government starts compensating Ponzi scam victims in Darfur

The Government of Sudan has begun compensating victims of the the Ponzi scheme allegedly masterminded by two ruling party figures in Darfur. The doors opened Tuesday on a first round of compensations for those affected by the ‘Mawasir Market’ scam.

The Government of Sudan has begun compensating victims of the the Ponzi scheme allegedly masterminded by two ruling party figures in Darfur. The doors opened Tuesday on a first round of compensations for those affected by the ‘Mawasir Market’ scam. According to the Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bushara Dosa, during Tuesday and Wednesday in El Fasher people who were embezzled in the Mawasir Market will be divided into groups for different levels of compensation. The minister announced that the groups who had lost less than a million will get full compensation. As for those who were embezzled out of a sum between one and five million, they will receive fifty per cent compensations and those who lost between five and ten million will be compensated at forty per cent and will get the remainder of their rights at a later time.
