Food prices rise in North Darfur capital

Prices of meat, grain and foodstuffs rose suddenly in markets of El Fasher, Radio Dabanga learnt on Friday. The increases were attributed to several reasons including scarcity of grain from a poor agricultural season. For his part, one meat trader said there is a scarcity of cattle and scarcity of liquidity. The price of a kilogram of lamb has risen from 14 pounds to 20 pounds. Prices of millet and sorghum are very high. Many residents and traders of El Fasher lost money in the recent Mowasir market scam.
