Floods destroy 200 homes in North Darfur camp

Flash floods streaming from the Tagali and Magali mountains destroyed about 200 homes in camp Naivasha in Shangil Tobaya, North Darfur on Wednesday morning. Dozens of families have been left homeless and destitute.

The flood waters resulting from heavy rains, swept-away food, provisions and property, displaced people told Radio Dabanga.

They appealed to local authorities and humanitarian organisations to speed up rescuing those affected by providing tents, plastic sheets and food.

The secondary school students of El Zahra School for girls in El Fasher, capital of North Darfur, have complained of having to sitting under the shade of trees in intense heat as a result of the lack of classrooms.

They demanded the Governor of North Darfur to pay a visit to their school to provide them with classrooms and seating.
