Five Sudanese army soldiers have been killed and five others injured in an ambush in the Wadi Saleh locality of West Darfur on Monday.A witness, who spoke to Radio Dabanga, said, “The ambush was carried out by unidentified gunmen in the locality. The attack targeted the army vehicle which had 11 passengers on board. It happened five kilometers from Umkher.”

The witness added that the soldiers were on their way back from Garsila. “They were fetching the salaries of their colleagues and were on their way to the Tanko army base when the surprise attack took place. The perpetrators attacked with RPG canons and truck caught fire immediately.”

The attack caused the death of the five soldiers immediately, while one soldier has gone missing.
