Two members of a posse sent out to rescue a kidnapped girl were killed, along with three militiamen, when the two groups clashed at Aradib, southwest of Muhajiriya on Tuesday morning.

Many others were reportedly wounded, but Radio Dabanga has not been able to ascertain exact numbers at this time.

A witness told Radio Dabanga that initially, an armed group abducted a girl from her home in the Muhajiriya area in South Darfur on Monday evening.

A local rescue team then went out in pursuit of the kidnappers, and intercepted them. In the ensuing firefight, two of the rescue team were killed, along with three of the suspects.

A witness said that the authorities sent a force from the Central Reserve Forces (known as Abu Tira) militia to the area of the incident.

He reported that the victims from the rescue team; Ahmed Abdullah Mohamed and Daoud Adam Musa were buried on Tuesday.

Last week, at least 20 people were reportedly killed in a similar clash when a Chadian rescue team confronted bandits in West Darfur.
