Militiamen attacked a number of displaced collecting firewood in Kabkabiya, North Darfur, on Wednesday. One of them was seriously wounded.

Speaking to Dabanga, a listener reported that three members of a government militia attacked Yousef Yagoub, when he was returning with firewood to El Salam camp for the displaced, near Kabkabiya town.

“They intercepted him in the area of Kamanga, and beat him with their rifles. He had to be taken to a hospital in Kabkabiya for treatment of his head wounds.”

On the same day, a group of displaced sustained various injuries in an attack by government-backed militiamen, when they were collecting firewood in the area of Doli, west of Kabkabiya.

“The attackers beat us severely, and torched our donkey carts,” one of the victims reported to Dabanga. “They threatened to kill us if we would collect firewood again in the area.”
