Fire destroys homes in West Darfur camp

A fire that broke out at Armankul camp for the displaced in Sirba locality, West Darfur, on Monday, destroyed a number of homes. “The material damage was estimated at about SDG5,000 ($873), besides the loss of 250 (100kg) sacks of millet, 200 sacks of sorghum, 30 sacks of dry okra, and five barrels of diesel,” the coordinator of the Sirba camps told Radio Dabanga. “Many camp gardens were also destroyed.” He appealed to the West Darfur state government and humanitarian organisations to provide food and shelter to “those who are now living in the open”.
