Fighting between government, SLA rebels near Duga Dosa, Darfur

Clashes broke out between government troops and Sudan Liberation Army rebels, including Arab forces loyal to the SLA, in the area near the Sundo in Duga Dosa. A field commander who identified himself as Abdelrahman Al Atuwi told Radio Dabanga that the forces of the movement attacked and destroyed 5 vehicles of the government and forced the enemy to flee the area of Duga Dosa. He explained that the attack had resulted in the wounding of two soldiers from the movement.

Meanwhile, a tribal leader was assassinated by government troops stationed in Deribat, east of Jebel Marra, on Sunday. The omda Ibrahim Adam Bar, omda of the Deribat area, was killed with two of his companions, following their arrival to Deribat in response to a decree of amnesty issued by the Governor of South Darfur, Hamid Musa Kasha. Witnesses who managed to flee the scene told Radio Dabanga that the military commander of the Deribat region issued direct instructions to the soldiers to execute the omda and two of his companions.
