Farm machine theft in eastern Sudan

Unidentified armed men – allegedly from Ethiopia – have reportedly stolen agricultural machines from eastern Sudanese farmers in El Gedaref state.
On Monday, the independent MP for El Gedaref constituency, Mubarak El Nur, told reporters in Khartoum that the thieves took the expensive machines with them to Ethiopia.
“The victims reported the incident to the competent authorities,” he said. “However, no one intervened which prompted the affected farmers to cross the Sudanese-Ethiopian border and search for their possessions themselves.”
El Nur called on the federal Ministry of Interior Affairs to intervene, protect the farmers and their lands, and restore their equipment to them.
