Members of the Evangelical Church in Khartoum carried out a protest rally in front of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments on Sunday.

They demanded that the administrative legitimacy of the church be restored and all property stolen from the church during the Al Bashir era returned.

Daoud Bashir Gadil, a participant in the rally, said that the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments during the Al Bashir era empowered a group within the church that was affiliated to the ousted regime.

This group seized church property, real estate, and parts of houses of worship, and converted them into commercial buildings. This must be undone, he said.
