Education event for nomadic children in West Darfur

Children among nomads do not receive a good education and drop out of school quickly, according to a Sudanese charity, that sets up a conference to address these issues.

A Sudanese charity organisation will organise an education conference for nomadic children in West Darfur state next month. The assumption is that children among nomads do not receive a good education and drop out of school quickly.

The Secreatray-General of El Masar Charity, Osman Hussein Abu Bakr, said that the aim of the upcoming conference is to develop practical solutions to prevent school drop-out, among others. This has become a very disturbing phenomenon, and is widespread among nomadic schoolchildren.

Attendees of the conference are representatives of the federal education ministries, native administrations, the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef), the Council for Development of Nomads, as well as representatives of the Legislation and Law Committee, and the commissioners of localities in West Darfur.
