Eastern Sudanese muezzin sentenced to death for rape

On Monday, the Criminal Court of Kassala convicted a muezzin of raping a five-year-old girl, and sentenced him to death by hanging.
The muezzin, aged 60, served at a mosque in a village near Kassala town.
According to Judge Majid Abashar the medical examination confirmed “this brutal crime”. He said in his verdict that “the murderer of innocence must be killed”.

El Dindir

Two weeks ago, the residents of El Nasir district in El Dindir town in Sennar staged a demonstration in protest against the rape of a 10-year-old school girl.

She was the fifth girl raped in El Dindir locality in less than two months. Three girls were raped in Takamabri village and a girl was raped near the village of Hawya, one of the protesters told Radio Dabanga.
