East Darfur employees’ salaries used to finance conference

Government employees in East Darfur have complained of non-payment of their salaries for the month of May. The employees of El Ferdous, Sheiria, Adila and Yassin localities in East Darfur State have not received their May salary, a teacher told Radio Dabanga from Adila. “The East Darfur State government told us that there was a deficit in the amount reserved for the salaries of May, because the Rizeigat-Ma’aliya reconciliation conference in El Fula, the capital of West Kordofan, had to be financed. Therefore the employees in East Darfur have not been paid.” The teacher appealed to the East Darfur State government to speed up the payment of the May salaries, especially as the fasting month of Ramadan is approaching.
