DRA salaries stolen in El Fasher, embezzlement in South Darfur state

Armed robbers stole the salaries of the employees working for the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) in El Fasher, North Darfur, on Tuesday. In Nyala, South Darfur, an audit team reported embezzlement at the state’s Ministry of Urban Planning.
According to a DRA employee, a group of four militiamen stormed the treasury office of the Darfur Regional Authority in El Fasher. “They threatened the treasury employee to shoot him, seized the employees’ salaries, amounting to SDG360,000 ($63,200), and fled,” he told Radio Dabanga.

At South Darfur state’s Ministry of Urban Planning, about SDG300,000 ($52,700) were embezzled by two employees. One of the accountants, who forged the figures, has disappeared.  The second one had been caught before stealing public money in Buram locality.
