Dozens of dock workers held in Port Sudan

About 40 workers were detained in Port Sudan, when they staged a protest during the general assembly of the Cargo Dock Workers Association.
The protesters demanded a change of the Association’s leadership, a review of its budget and the improvement of its services. The chairman of the Association, Hamid Mohamed Adam, has been holding the office for more than 40 years, a dock worker told Radio Dabanga.
The police stormed the headquarters of the Association, and dispersed the protesters with batons and tear gas, he said.
About 40 cargo section workers were taken to the police station of El Thawra district, and released after the general assembly was concluded.
