Torrential rains and heavy winds destroyed 50 houses and damaged more than 70 houses in El Tadamon locality in South Kordofan on Monday.

The heavy weather in Nabota caused the death of dozens of livestock, but did not result in any loss of lives according to the locality commissioner.

Locality commissioner Gen. Abdallah Abdelsamad called for the formation of a committee to assess the damage, which he estimated at SDG 1,100,000 ($39,090*). He praised the people from neighbouring areas who helped the victims and have started rebuilding the affected houses.

Abdelsamad said that he will undertake “serious efforts” to address the situation and provide the necessary support to the affected people.
