‘Displacement from Saraf Umra ongoing’: Darfur camp coordinator

More than 200 displaced families from areas in the east and south Saraf Umra locality in North Darfur have arrived to camp Hamidiya in Zalingei locality of Central Darfur. The coordinator of Central Darfur camps told Radio Dabanga that the families arrived at the camp four days ago from the Saraf Umra villages of Birkat Seira, Koi, Um Jarwa and Sinaga. He pointed out that displacement from Saraf Umra is still ongoing. He confirmed that the humanitarian and health situation of the displaced persons is very bad, demanding that the humanitarian organisations speed-up the provision of assistance to them. He also called on the Darfur authorities to lift the siege imposed on the locality so that people can move to safe areas.
