Displacement from Numu continues, sources

The displacement of citizens from Numu village and surroundings in North Darfur has continued this week towards the localities of Saraf Omra and Kabkabiya, locals told Radio Dabanga on Thursday, 3 January.   According to them, the displacement continues because authorities failed to provide security to the citizens. Residents of both localities asserted that more than 10 vehicles from Numu arrived in Saraf Omra and a number of others arrived in Kabkabiya on Wednesday. They said Numu citizens fear renewed attacks by pro-government militia. On 25 December four policemen were injured when a government-armed militia attacked a police station in the village of Numu. After the shooting, the militants looted the police station and seized the weapons.They also fired shots in the air to scare the local population, Radio Dabanga reports.
