Daughter escapes, militias rape mother in North Darfur

Four alleged pro-government militiamen wearing military uniforms raped a woman from camp Haiya Salam in North Darfur, after her daughter managed to escape. The victim is reportedly being treated in a hospital.Mother and daughter, 46 and 26, were working on their farm located west of Kabkabiya when the perpetrators approached them, a camp’s sheikh told Radio Dabanga.“They tried raping the daughter. She used a machete to protect herself and managed to escape. The gunmen then beat the mother with rifle buts and whips and raped her in turns.
