Daughter escapes, militias rape mother in North Darfur

Four alleged pro-government militiamen wearing military uniforms raped a woman from camp Haiya Salam in North Darfur, after her daughter managed to escape. The victim is reportedly being treated in a hospital.Mother and daughter, 46 and 26, were working on their farm located west of Kabkabiya when the perpetrators approached them, a camp’s sheikh told Radio Dabanga.“They tried raping the daughter. She used a machete to protect herself and managed to escape. The gunmen then beat the mother with rifle buts and whips and raped her in turns. They also hit other farmers who tried helping the victim,” according to the source. File photo
