Darfuri lawyer condemns events in Kabkabiya

A Darfuri lawyer has strongly condemned the killing of seven displaced people and the wounding of 19 others in the protests in Kabkabiya last week. The Sudanese police and UN/African Union Mission in Darfur forces are accused of shooting and fatally wounding demonstrators. The lawyer Muhammed Abdullah told Radio Dabanga that a neutral commission should carry out an independent investigation that does not include UNAMID or the Sudanese government. He said UNAMID and the Darfur Regional Authority have to accept the responsibility for what happened and offer fair compensation to the victims.
