Darfur rebels battle Rapid Support Forces in East Jebel Marra

Rebel forces battled the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in East Jebel Marra on Monday. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Mustafa Tambur, the spokesman for the Sudan Liberation Movement, led by Abdel Wahid El Nur said that the “Darfur joint resistance forces” killed nine RSF troops and destroyed a number of vehicles in a battle in the area north of Fanga on Monday evening. ”We besieged the militia group, consisting of 74 vehicles, in the area north of Fanga. To lift the siege, the Sudanese Air Force bombed the area throughout Tuesday.” After being defeated, the militia headed towards Shangil Tobaya, Tambur added.The joint rebel forces claim to have killed 44 government and militia troops in East Jebel Marra on Sunday. “The area was bombed by the Sudanese Air Force at least 54 times”, Tambur told Radio Dabanga.
