Darfur: Policeman killed, farmer shot

A policeman in Nierteti, Central Darfur, was killed when his vehicle crashed while chasing the perpetrators of an assault on Thursday. Gunmen killed a farmer in Gireida in South Darfur on Wednesday.

A policeman in Nierteti, Central Darfur, was killed when his vehicle crashed while chasing the perpetrators of an assault on Thursday. Gunmen killed a farmer in Gireida in South Darfur on Wednesday.

Gunmen on camels attacked a man and his wife at Malgo,west of Nierteti on Thursday morning, causing them serious injuries. The victims, El Dhei Abdullah and Aisha Abdullah Hassan Ibrahim, have been transferred to Gireida hospital. A source said that Aisha was in a coma when they found her, and has lost her ability to speak.

A policeman, Saleh Mohamad, was killed when the vehicle tracking down the perpetrators overturned. Twelve others sustained injuries and have been taken to Zalingei for treatment.

On Wednesday, gunmen shot farmer Mohamed Osman Bora, and wounded two others at Manora area, south of Gireida. A relative of the deceased Bora told Radio Dabanga that five gunmen, riding camels, opened fire on a group of farmers at Manora. The farmers were on their way to Gireida.

Bora was killed on the spot and Jamal Adam Ahmed and Shommo Jamal Shommo were wounded.
