Darfur man abducted – neighbours keep wife and daughter safe

Gunmen abducted on Wednesday a man from his home in North Darfur and returned half an hour later for his wife and daughter, but neighbours had intervened and they were safe. Sources in Saraf Omra said four pro-government militiamen in Land Cruisers attacked the home of Osman Adam Abdullah at about 8:00pm and took him to an unknown destination.   The motive for Abdulla’s abduction is still unclear, according to a family member, who said that while relatives had informed the police and UNAMID they “did not lift a finger”. In a separate report, a sheikh of a Saraf Omra camp told Radio Dabanga that elements of the security services stormed camps Dankoj and Jebel on Thursday in search of a number of leaders of displaced people. It is not clear what the motive of the search was. On Wednesday evening in South Darfur, unidentified gunmen shot and killed Mohamed Hussein Sharaf Al Din, witnesses said.   He was on his way home to Miro Kabar in El Salam locality from the nearby Gusa Jamat market and was shot in the head, abdomen and chest, according to the sources.   Witnesses said that police and citizens are searching for the perpetrators.File photo
