Darfur JEM and Army clash in Shegag Karo

The Justice and Equality Movement denied that the Armed Forces on Friday managed to enter the area of Wadi Howar. The government had announced that it took over the movement’s largest hospital in the area of Shegag Karo.

The government had announced that it took over the movement’s largest hospital in the area of Shegag Karo.JEM said that it fought back against a government convoy that was backed by air planes heading towards Wadi Howar, about 50 kilometers from Karari. Abu Bakr Hamid Nour, the secretary for organization and management of the movement told Radio Dabanga that the government force fled, leaving behind 3 tanks that were later bombarded by military planes so that the JEM could not take them over.

The airplanes then bombarded a small clinic in Shegag. Abu Bakr revealed that the JEM force drove the army out to the area of Mizbad, while it surrounded another convoy in Wadi Hamar.

Regarding the same matter, the movement accused the government of burning down the area of Shegag Karo completely through bombardment using tanks and Antonov planes. Abu Bakr Hamid, the secretary for organization and management of the movement told Radio Dabanga that the government militias have burnt down the area of Kendel and destroyed the water supply to the area and arrested several of its citizens.

He pointed out that the government was following the policy of land burning by bombarding and burning several villages and frightening the citizens. Abu Bakr warned that the destroying of water supply with the summer season approaching will cause a humanitarian crisis in the region. Radio Dabanga tried to contact the army spokesman for contact but there was no reply.
