The displaced in the Darfur camps congratulate the Sudanese in general and the people of Darfur in particular on the occasion of the Eid El Adha [Feast of the Sacrifice] today.

They pray to the Almighty for stability and a sustainable peace for the entire country, camp sheikh Abdelrazeg Yousef Suleiman told Radio Dabanga.

“We all hope that this year has been the last year of suffering and displacement in Sudan, and that by the next year a just peace is reached, the rule of law restored, and all Janjaweed and government militiamen have been disarmed.”

The displaced expressed their grief for their inability to buy new clothes, presents and sweets for their children, not to mention a sheep to slaughter on the occasion.

The camp sheikh said that the Darfuris consider this year’s Eid as a “feast of sadness, because they remember their dead, the wounded, and those who disappeared during the last thirteen years.
