Darfur Bar Association: government hindering criminal justice process

The head of the Darfur Bar Association, Mohammed Abdullah Al Duma, accused the government of deliberately hindering and delaying the process of delivering justice to victims. He said that immunity was given to most of the accused criminals, besides also the unwillingness of the government to prosecute. Al Duma pointed out that the names of accused people were erased in a report written by the Association headed by the former judiciary chairman, Dafallah Elhaj Yusuf.

He said that he has several files which were distorted before taken to court. Al Duma stressed necessity of abiding by the international humanitarian law because the Sudanese laws have no definition of crimes against humanity and war crimes.
