CRF troops clash in Zamzam camp

Sudanese Central Reserve Forces (Abu Tira) troops clashed in Zamzam camp firing heavily in the air near the camp’s market on Sunday, September 23. There are no reports of casualties at this moment. According to eye-witnesses, the heavy gunfire from Abu Tira troops led residents and shop-owners to flee from the market, resulting in significant losses for traders of meat and vegetables in particular. Witnesses from Zamzam camp told Radio Dabanga the heavy gunfire lasted for nearly two hours. They added that Sudanese army troops arrived at the camp to expel Abu Tira troops and prevent them from looting the market. On another note, Zamzam camp witnessed a widespread campaign carried out by the police, army and security forces, targeting liquor producers. The campaign resulted in the arrest of dozens of women who are involved in producing liquor in the camp.The women were taken to a nearby police station, camp’s residents added to Radio Dabanga.
