CRF elements arrest Zam Zam camp residents

Elements of the Sudanese Central Reserve Forces (Abu Tira) reportedly arrested a number of displaced persons from inside their homes in Zam Zam camp near El-Fasher in North Darfur on Sunday October 28, witnesses informed Radio Dabanga. The displaced were taken to an unknown destination, the witnesses added. A camp activist told Radio Dabanga that Abu Tira elements stormed the southern district of the camp, Abu Delek, at around 11 o’clock on Sunday morning in two Land Cruiser vehicles. Residents Ahmed Ali Aqeed and Idriss Hussein Hassabo were arrested from inside their homes and taken to an unknown destination. The reason for the arrests remains unclear. The activist pointed out that the victims’ families informed UNAMID about the incidents. At the same time, Abu Tira troops heavily fired in the air at Ruanda Camp, Tawila locality in North Darfur on Friday. The gunfire injured a three-year-old infant, witnesses told Radio Dabanga. Camp residents appealed to the authorities and UNAMID to intervene and end the continuous violence against displaced people, the witnesses added to Radio Dabanga.
