Court drops case against Darfur Ponzi scheme suspects

A court in El Fasher dismissed a case submitted by police against Abd Al Khayr Mansour and the imam of a mosque. The police accused them of involvement in the Mawasir market Ponzi scheme. Security forces investigating the case had raided a home in El Fasher and seized a rifle and ten deeds of houses in different names and nine deeds of cars in different names.

A court in El Fasher dismissed a case submitted by police against Abd Al Khayr Mansour and the imam of a mosque. The police accused them of involvement in the Mawasir market Ponzi scheme. Security forces investigating the case had raided a home in El Fasher and seized a rifle and ten deeds of houses in different names and nine deeds of cars in different names. The two wanted men were allegedly managers of the Mawasir case. They handed themselves in to the police along with an amount of money. The Minister of Justice had announced that suspects who came forward voluntarily to return assets taken in the scam would not be prosecuted.

In another incident, the Exhibition Manager of the Mawasir market, Al Tayeb Mohammed, who had been imprisoned in Shalla Prison of El Fasher, fled from the hospital after he was transferred there, according to witnesses.
