Citizens in remote area of S. Darfur make appeal over maternal mortality

Citizens of Um Dafug in South Darfur State appealed to the government to immediately intervene to alleviate the suffering of the citizens of the region. One of the citizens explained that there are frequent deaths each year in the fall season because of the difficulty of transporting cases of obstructed childbirth to the town Rehed Al Bardi across the rugged roads.

One of the citizens explained that there are frequent deaths each year in the fall season because of the difficulty of transporting cases of obstructed childbirth to the town Rehed Al Bardi across the rugged roads. There is also no obstetrician at the hospital there. Um Dafug is 300 kilometres away from Nyala and 150 kilometers away from Rehed al Bardi. Access is further interrupted during the rainy season.
