Central Darfuri Students demonstrate in Khartoum for peace

A group of students from Um Dukhun locality in Central Darfur staged a demonstration in front of the Presidential Palace in Khartoum on Thursday. They demanded that the Sudanese government intervene to stop the inter-tribal clashes across Darfur. Most of the students are members of the Salamat tribe. They denounced the inactivity of the Khartoum government, and its failure to end the conflicts. Abdulrahman Ibrahim, adviser to the state government of Central Darfur told Radio Dabanga from Khartoum that the students were addressed by state Minister of Presidential Affairs, Mohamed Wenassi, and Ahmed Fadl, Minister of State for the Council of Ministers. They promised to intervene and find speedy resolution. The protesters handed over a memorandum to the Minister containing an ultimatum. It states that unless the government finds a solution to the problem within 48 hours, they will stage a sit-in outside the Presidential Palace. File photo: Students protest in Sudan
