The students were suspended for the period of three semesters. Political activities among students at the university have been halted until further notice.

One of the students, Bashar Mohamed Adam, told Radio Dabanga that “the chancellor himself violated regulations that allow students to exercise political activities”.

Adam said that they met with the students’ dean, and requested him to call on the chancellor to repeal his decision.

“He said it would be better to bring in Zalingei native administration leaders to discuss the case with the chancellor.”
