Central Bank of Khartoum vehicle looted by armed group

Armed groups affiliated to the government looted and plundered a vehicle belonging to the Nyala subsidiary of Central Bank of Khartoum. The vehicle was carrying the salaries of UNAMID staff in local as well as foreign currencies. Witnesses said that an armed group consisting of 3 armed vehicles intercepted a vehicle belonging to the Nyala subsidiary of the Central Bank of Khartoum. Four people were inside the vehicle; the driver, two bank employees and a military guard. The vehicle was on its way to the UNAMID headquarters when it was intercepted by the armed group. The CBK (Central Bank of Khartoum) vehicle was carrying large sums of local and foreign currencies; UNAMID employee salaries. A witness said the gunmen beat the guard with rifle butts and transferred the money to one of their vehicles, before driving off to the northern side of the city.
